COACH MENTORS

DANIEL “Stix” PARKER (Sprints and Jumps) - I started my career in fitness in 2007 when I joined the Australian Defence Force where I was deployed to East Timor and was injured in Afghanistan, I proudly served 7yrs. I add this in here as this time in uniform has given me the tools and skills required to be a leader/coach.
When I completed my time there, I was fortunate enough to be selected on the Australian Invictus Games team in 2017 for athletics and wheel chair rugby and in 2018 for Athletics. This is where my love for the sport happened! as I not only witnessed the positive power of sport, but I was also a part of it and changing other’s lives for the better.
As time passes, I have had successful athletes (able and Para) go on to not only be at the top of their game but better yet be better humans. I was fortunate enough to be selected as a coach in this year’s regional Australia team for Oceania.

GLEN CORNFORD (Jumps) - I coach my athletes to enjoy whatever they are doing from training to competing and focus on the effort rather than the result.
It’s all about learning no matter what level or age you are.
My athletes have achieved
• Number 2 in Aus for HJ for 1 athlete
• Number 2 in Qld for HJ for 1 athlete
• Number 1 in Qld for HJ for 1 athlete
• Number 3 in Qld for HJ for 1 athlete
• Number 2 in Qld for LJ for 2 athletes
• Number 3 in Qld for TJ for 2 athletes
• Top 8 finish for a few athletes in HJ and LJ in Qld over the years

Most of my jumpers have finished 1st in NQ over the past 10 years I have been coaching. They have all achieved great results in other events as well but I do have some good jumpers. I am a very relaxed coach really focusing on enjoyment.
The results will come if you enjoy what you are doing.

LESLYE MULLER (Throws, Sprints, Hurdles and Jumps)
I commenced coaching in 1990 I am well into my thirty second year of continuous
coaching. I am a level 4 specialist coach in Jumps and Sprints, Hurdles and Relays.
I became a High Performance coach when an athlete I coached, Nash Lowis won World
Juniors in the event of Javelin in 2018. I coach mostly school age students, from time to
time senior athletes.
I am a coach educator and I continue to advance my coaching knowledge with attending
courses, online lectures and seminars.
Athletes I have coached have reached State, National and International level several with
outstanding achievements. I encourage all athletes I coach to strive to be the best they can
be, working on their personal best at all times.

PAUL KEATING (Distance)
Keppel Coast Athletics Inc
I have been coaching for the last 15 years initially with cross country and middle distance track athletes in primary school but gradually expanding to secondary school athletes and some masters. I have been president of Keppel Coast Athletics Club since its formation in 2013 and have witnessed the club grow significantly in that time to be one of the top performing clubs at the annual Athletics North Queensland Championships.
My particular coaching interest is the 400m sprint and the 800m and 1500m middle distance events. Our club had recent success at the Oceania games with one of our 17 year old athletes winning Gold in the 17 years male 400m in a time of 48.34.
