Athletics North Queensland is excited to announce the 2021 J Squad.
This squad is for athletes from 10 years to 13 years who have met the qualifying standards between December 1st 2020 and November 30, 2021.
This program aims to recognise athletes who are achieving great results across all “event group” disciplines. An “event group” is a number of similar disciplines categorised together into one group. The three event groups are Run/walk, Jumps and Throws.
The J Squad is a recognition and rewards program for Athletics North Queensland athletes that have achieved high levels in all event group disciplines.
Athletes who have achieved a qualification standard in one “event group” discipline will be eligible to become bronze members (Eg. One running event). Athletes who have achieved the qualification standards for two “event group” disciplines (Eg. One run/walk and a throw) will be eligible to become silver members. In order to become a gold member, athletes will have to achieve a qualification standard in all three “event groups” disciplines, being a run (walk), jump and throw.
Please read carefully the eligibility requirements listed below.
Athletes must meet the standards listed below to be eligible for selection in the J Squad:
Be a registered member of ANQ
Have met the qualifying standard for your age as at December 31st, 2021. For example. This means that if you are 10 now but are turning 11 before the 31st December 2021, then you will be in the 11 year age group and not the 10 year age group
Have met the qualifying standard during the qualification period – December 1st, 2020 to November 30th, 2021.
Applications for selection in the J Squad will close on the November 30th, 2021.
- Once an athlete reaches either Gold, Silver or Bronze Membership once, you cannot reapply for that colour membership throughout the season. Please note: You cannot apply for more than one event in an “event group”. For example. If an athlete has qualified in the 100m, 200 and 400m, the athlete will need to choose which event they want to be recorded on their certificate as only one event can be recorded. This applies for jumps and throws also.
Members will receive:
a letter each time they make a new “event group” discipline
a certificate each time they make a new “event group” discipline
